Neighbor for Neighbor
A simple idea with powerful impact:
people helping people build a new beginning.
Neighbor for Neighbor is a community-driven program where local volunteers support newcomers in the US during certain time. Instead of navigating everything alone, families are welcomed by people in their own community who walk alongside them
Why it matters
Every year, people begin new chapters in communities across the United States — arriving from other countries or relocating to unfamiliar cities and towns. They bring resilience, talent, and hope, but often face challenges as they find their footing:
-
Learning a new language
-
Building connections from scratch
-
Accessing jobs and everyday services
With support, these journeys become easier and more meaningful. And it’s through community that people truly begin to feel at home.
Because integration doesn’t happen through systems—it happens through relationships

You can be a neighbor if you are:
-
An individual
Someone who wants to make a meaningful difference, one relationship at a time
-
A family or group of friends
Supporting together and sharing the experience
-
A church or faith community
Living out your values through direct community support
-
A workplace or team
Colleagues coming together to support a newcomer
-
A school or university group
Students building real-world impact and connection
-
A community organization
Extending your mission through local action
Anyone can be a neighbor
There is no “perfect” neighbor.
You don’t need to be an expert—just willing to show up, connect, and care.
You can participate in the way that works best for you.
You might help with:
-
Finding groceries and basic needs
-
Navigating transportation
-
Enrolling children in school
-
Practicing English
-
Connecting to jobs and services
-
Simply being there
-

Support is practical, human, and flexible
Small actions that make a life-changing difference

How it works
Fill and submit our contact form.
Our team will follow up with interviews and any necessary background checks to evaluate beneficiary needs and applicant capacities.
Once applicant and beneficiary applications are accepted, we will match them for their support period.
You will receive cultural orientation and training to prepare you to support your new neighbor. Neighbors and new neighbors will begin with an initial meet-and-greet to align on goals and expectations.
Neighbors are encouraged to support a new neighbor over a sustained period, with the length of support shaped by mutual needs and availability.
To ensure everyone feels supported throughout the experience, our team will check in regularly with both neighbors, including monthly touchpoints.
