Empowering Communities through Connection

Our Vision
A world where diverse people and communities are bound together by our commitments to a greater good, where everyone feels true belonging.
Blending a Humanitarian and a Workforce Development Focus

Having good intentions and a bleeding heart is simply not enough. There are more than 117 million forcibly displaced people due to conflict, violence, persecution, and human rights violations, and the United States could never hope to tackle this issue on its own.
For newcomers to truly thrive in a community, the will to welcome them needs to be there, from labor needs to the social, community level. We work with regional partners to develop those workforce pathways and engage everyday people within the community to welcome newcomers through private sponsorship (What is Community Sponsorship?).
With our extensive expertise in international law and refugee resettlement and a variety of cultural backgrounds from five different continents on staff, we can identify, mobilize, and train organizations, everyday people, and local governments from across the globe to strengthen their community and economies by welcoming and integrating newcomers.
Our Why
We don't want to create reliance on our services, but rather empower existing groups and individuals to integrate newcomers and strengthen their communities' bonds on their own.
We believe we already have the capacity to thrive and help others thrive, but in a divided world, we are starved for connection to make things work; connection with others who may come from radically different backgrounds and experiences; connection with others who disagree with us; connection with our neighbors; connection with each other.
Ultimately, through connection, we seek to create a robust movement of people committed to welcoming newcomers and caring for our neighbors already here.

Despite most of the resettlement infrastructure being frozen in 2025, Patchwork mobilized Americans across the U.S. to sponsor the resettlement of over 150 Afghan allies that served along the US mission in Afghanistan (Afghan Special Immigrant Visa holders). Learn more
